Halloween in Honolulu 2014

Given any thought to what you’re going to be doing on Halloween this year?  This is my first such holiday since arriving to Honolulu and I was ready to be disappointed, actually.  I just didn’t think there would be anything really cool going on for Halloween in Hawaii.  I don’t know…I’m foolish, I guess.  I just didn’t think that Halloween would be a holiday that got a lot of love and action on the Islands.

I was wrong.  I should have figured with all the hauntings and crazy Night Marcher talk in Hawaii.

The first thing I’m going to do…

Adult Things for Halloween in Honolulu

I’m going to start the season off with a Zombie Pub Crawl.  Because that’s how I roll.

The event isn’t actually on Halloween.  It actually takes place on the 18th of October (a Saturday).  If you have a love for zombies and “boo”ze, then come in join in the fun in Chinatown.  We’ll be hitting up different bars and pubs where there will be zombie-fying yourself with face paint and plenty entertainment.  Here’s more information on the Hawaii Zombie Pub Crawl.

I can’t really decide what I want to do on Halloween night, though.  I’ve been invited to a few Halloween parties, but the more I think about it the more I want to go to Halloween at the Hyatt.  It looks like that is going to be really fun time and with the great prizes they’re giving out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place you just know that it’s going to be a pretty weird time seeing all of those creative costumes.

And do I even want to go to a haunted house this year? I might be getting a little too old for them.  I don’t want to stroke or cardiac out at a Halloween haunted house.  That would suck.  From the sounds of it, the Haunted Plantation in Waipahu is one of those ghost houses that could really get to me, too.  It’s one of the United States best haunted houses every year and not for young kids.  The Haunted Plantation runs on other days during October to include Halloween Night.

Halloween and October in Honolulu with Kids

Now, if you have little ones then you’re probably noticing that I haven’t really included any events that are for them.  That was done purposely.  In my opinion, aside from trick o’ treating and Halloween school parties, this is a purely adult holiday.  (We’ve kind of stolen it from the kids.)  The ladies dress only half way and as provocatively as possible and drink a lot.  The guys throw on a costume to mix in or because their slutty dressed woman makes them…then they drink a lot and look at the girls.

However, if you want some ideas for kid friendly, October and Halloween events then here is an awesome list courtesy of OahuMom.com.
